IN MEMORY OF STEVEN R. CORDELL
Silverdale Borough mourns the untimely passing of Mayor Steven R. Cordell, sixty-two on June 18th, 2024. A mourning bunting has been mounted on Borough Hall in the Mayor’s honor and our flag is now flown at half-mast.
Steve is survived by his wife Christine, three children and five grandchildren.
Steve joined his father at D.R. Cordell & Associates, Inc. in July of 1986 where he would work for 38 years until his death. During his time there, he was awarded six patents, held the position of company president for over 20 years, grew the business as well as a nationwide network of contracted equipment sales representatives, and stewarded the family business over its 50th anniversary.
Outside of work, Steve gave selflessly of his time to multiple community entities including the Chalfont Lions Club, Pleasantville United Church of Christ, Silverdale Borough Council (2000-2018), Silverdale Planning Commission, The Founder of Silverdale’s Community and Economic Development Commission (2020) and was a Republican Committeeperson. These efforts culminated when he was elected Mayor of Silverdale Borough, holding that office for over 6 years.
He was an avid cyclist with the George School Wheelmen, completing multiple 100-mile bike rides over 12 years, a talented woodworker, and adventurous traveler. He was an exceptional father and never missed an opportunity to support his children’s endeavors.
Memorial donations may be made to the Silverdale Borough for a park bench or other structure, commemorating Steve’s dedication to the community. The address is PO Box 187 Silverdale, PA 18962 with memo line “Steve Cordell Park Bench.”
